Radical Mentoring February 25, 2018 2pm - 4pm

The purpose of this meeting is simple. The Staff Pastor or Lead Mentor will want to cast vision for the mentoring season and then have each group meet together for the first time. During that time each group will accomplish five things:

1) introductions

2) coordinate calendars

3) set expectations

4) explain how homework assignments work and handout the first ones and

5) pray together.

Homework Assignments – Kickoff Meeting (Due on Feb 25th)

1. Covenant
I have emailed you a copy of the Mentee Covenant. Please read carefully and understand that you will be expected to uphold all aspects of this covenant throughout the mentoring season. Review it with your wife and ask her to sign it. We want her to know what you’re being asked to do and to be totally supportive of the time you’re going to invest in the mentoring group, both with your reading, homework and with your time away with the group. Bring your signed copy to the Kickoff Meeting.

2. Bio
Write a short bio to let your mentor and your fellow mentees know a little about you. Below is an
example of what we are looking for. Email your bio to your mentor. He will then send you the bios
of everyone in the group so you can become familiar with your fellow mentees.

Example bio . . .

My name is ________. I am __ years old, married __ years, and father of __ children (names and
ages). I grew up in _______ town, graduated from _______ University with a degree in _______ and
spent ____ years working at ________________ companies with ____________________
responsibilities. We got involved at _______ church in ____, and I accepted Christ in ___. In my
spare time, I like to __________________. I’m participating in this process because . . .

3. Wife-Approved Calendar
During the Kickoff Meeting, we will be coordinating our calendar for the whole mentoring season.
You need to come ready to schedule every meeting and retreat we will have. Once these dates are
set, they are very hard to change and remember when you sign the covenant you are committing
to being at every meeting, on-time. So really take your time and think through the dates you know
you can’t meet . . . vacations, kid’s events, family reunions, work trips, anniversaries, etc. Scheduling
is a difficult deal, so come with hard data but with a soft hand . . . we’ll have to make some
compromises to get everyone on the same page.

4. Prayer
Begin to pray for every guy in the group and for your mentor . . . that God would do something
spectacular in each of our lives through this mentoring experience.
As a reminder, our Kickoff Meeting will take place on February 25th (Sunday) at 2pm in the SSBC Conference Room.
